Nakia Thomas
Nakia was born to perform. Even at an early age, Nakia
could light up a room with her personality and charm. A
Detroit native, she graduated from the Detroit High
School for the Fine and Performing Arts in 1997. While
there, she took her acting, dance and vocal performance
to the next level and started competing in MIFA
(Michigan Interscholastic Forensics Association) where
she took district, regional and state champion titles.
She also competed at a collegiate level for Wayne State
University where she also became a state champion.
Nakia is a size 2 (oops! 22) Show Stopper, out to show
the world that big girls only do it one way: Even
BIGGER!!! She’s done modeling for some of Detroit’s
hottest designers including: Abdul-Haqq Designs, House
of Von Jour Reese,
Tania Mone’t Couture, Gina T. Fashions, and J- British
London Streets. Having been nicknamed Ms. Super
Fabulous, she says “Give me a stage and I will wear it
out!” Whether she’s dancing, acting, singing, or
modeling for designers and hairshows, that’s just what
she does.
When she’s not busy on-stage, she’s busy off-stage.
She’s also a model coach and choreographer and enjoys
event planning, promoting and marketing through her own
company, NDT Communications. Never one to sit still for
too long, she spends her free time involved in several
social clubs including: League Washburn, The Hype Girls
and S.O.P.H.A.T.T (Simply Obviously Passionate
High-browed Astonishing and Tantalizingly Thick) and
enjoys karaoke at the Greektown Casino in downtown
Detroit.
After making her stage career dreams become a reality,
she hopes to settle down, get married and start a
family. She also wants to clean up the country one city
at a time, and dispel the rumors that all politicians
are liars by becoming one!
What God has in store for this young lady, only time
will tell!
